Iligan Bloggers Society is excited to have received confirmations from the invited speakers for 5th Mindanao Bloggers Summit. Meet some of the blogging personalities  who has confirmed to be joining  in on the caravan for the MBS5!

MR. Naderev Saño is Commissioner of the National Climate Change Commission, the country’s lead policy-making body on climate change. Before being appointed as Commissioner, he served as the Head of the Climate Change and Energy Program of the World Wide Fund for Nature. A veteran of the Philippine environmental movement, he served with WWF for more than 13 years, working on domestic and international issues that relate to climate change, clean energy, biodiversity, coastal and marine resources, tourism, and local governance. He has been working on climate change issues since 1997, establishing WWF’s Climate Change Program in the Philippines. A graduate of the University of the Philippines – Diliman, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a graduate degree in Community Development. He also attended the College of Conservation Leadership in the Netherlands and the University College in Washington University. He previously managed projects on coastal resources and fisheries conservation, as well as environmental education, working to promote sustainable marine tourism and coastal law enforcement in the country. He also actively worked on the development of programs on adaptation of marine ecosystems and coastal communities to climate change and the development of clean and renewable energy for the country. He was also the National Director of the Earth Hour campaign in the Philippines. Commissioner Saño is a lead negotiator in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and serves as Deputy Head of Delegation. Commissioner Saño is an avid scuba diver, peace activist, and a firm believer in community empowerment.

AILEEN APOLO – DE JESUS is the country consultant for the Philippines of Google Inc. A long-time marketing practitioner, Aileen has been involved in marketing and business development of technology products for more than 11 years. She is an experienced marketing and sales manager skilled in developing and implementing marketing, communication and strategic business plans and campaigns that produce results and increase sales and profits. Skilled in product and brand development, training, sales management, business development, market research and profiling.

DR. MARILOU SITON-NANAMAN is a professor at Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology, with a College Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service, Lyceum of the Philippines, Masters Master of Arts in Political Science, University of the Philippines, and Doctorate Ph.D. in Peace & Development, Notre Dame University. She is the person behind Iligan Center for Peace and Education and Research, the research and moves to solid waste management program of Iligan City, and sustainable development.

On June 12, 2011, barely two months after graduating cum laude from the University of the Philippines, Yahoo! Southeast Asia hailed 23-year-old ANNA OPOSA as one of the seven inspiring modern-day Filipino heroes for her efforts in environmental conservation.

While she was taking up BA English Studies in UP, Anna was a Philippine Youth Ambassador to ASEAN and Japan in 2008, and the Philippine youth leader in the Denso Youth For Earth Action program in Thailand and Japan in 2009. She returned to the same program the following year as a junior facilitator. Also in 2010, Anna represented the Philippine youth as a member of the Philippine delegation to the UN Climate Change Conference in Cancun, Mexico. In July 2011, she was at the British Council’s Global Changemakers Summit in New Delhi, India.

In addition to being an environmental advocate, Anna is a freelance writer, scuba diver, teacher, and musical theatre performer who once did shows with Repertory Philippines and Stages Inc.

She is co-founder of the Save Philippine Seas movement and now works at the NGO called the Law of Nature Foundation. Anna blogs at http://annaoposa.ph.

 JANETTE TORAL is the author of Blogging from Home, DigitalFilipino.com E-Commerce Workshop E-Book co-author/editor of the Philippine Internet Review: 10 Years of Internet History (1994 – 2004), and DigitalFilipino: An E-Commerce Guide for the eFilipino.

She renders consulting work in the area of Internet marketing by designing and managing advertisement placements in blogs, social networks, social media, websites, and 3rd party advertising placement engines. 

She owns two professional online communities, where knowledge sharing and business matching are usually conducted, the DigitalFilipino.com Club and Philippine Software Process Improvement Network.

She regularly conducts training on e-learning, e-mail marketing, Internet advertising, blogging, online payment, website marketing, e-commerce project planning, software process improvement, requirements management, and software project management. Janette Toral is a certified SCRUM Master.

 She is a columnist to Sun.Star Cebu since 2003.

 She is the ambassador of the Philippine School Cyberfair Competition.

 She is the founder of the Philippine Internet Commerce Society, where she served as president for 5 years (1997-2002), and lobbied for the passage of the Y2K Law and E-Commerce Law (Republic Act 8792).
